With the final weeks of summer holidays upon us, it's the perfect time to slow down, enjoy the evenings—and celebrate International Bat Night!
Did you know bats are one of Gemma’s favourite animals? Here in Holyhead and across Anglesey, we’re lucky to have several species, including the Common Pipistrelle and the Brown Long-Eared Bat, fluttering through woodlands, gardens, and coastal paths at dusk.
Bats are vital pollinators and natural insect control experts—eating up to 3,000 insects in a single night!
Want to learn more or even spot some local bats? Check out the amazing work of the Gwynedd Bat Group, who help protect and monitor bat species right here on the island.
